Socio-Philosophical Essence of Patriotism

Abstract

Patriotism defines love to the Motherland, links with its history, culture, achievements and problems. Patriotism is a factor of society’s development, an element of its viability. Patriotism is characterized as a complex, multi-component phenomenon which has different stages and levels of development and is manifested in the most important areas of society. There is no single interpretation of its values in the scientific literature and, therefore, a need for the theoretical development of this issue is still valid. Subjects of patriotism: a person, a group, a class, an ethnic group (nation), people of a country. Patriotic consciousness – a reflection of the importance of the Motherland and the willingness to take the necessary measures to protect national interests in the consciousness of people. Patriotic relations are a prerequisite for the realization of the patriotic consciousness and patriotic activity. Patriotism is an important part of the existence of the people, the nation, the society, the state, the individual. Patriotism is an important condition for the dynamic and successful development of the society and the state. Awareness of belonging to the country is a need – subjective process, reflecting the people assessment of their needs and interests and their relationship with the interests of fellow countrymen and the public. The entire history of mankind shows that the subjects of patriotism are not only individuals, but also communities of people. Patriotism is one of the most important phenomena which has the eternal value in the society that affect all aspects of its life, including a set of patriotic feelings, ideas, beliefs, customs and traditions.
